Sad News
Today I received some very difficult news. A very dear friend of mine, Sonia Lavictoire, passed away last night in a car accident. She was a beautiful person, full of joy, and one of the most caring people I have ever met. She was not only a close friend, but also one of my doula partners who was involved in both my children's journeys into this world. We will miss her terribly. Please pray for her family as she leaves behind a great husband and 2 young boys. I can't even begin to imagine how they will cope with this awful tragedy.

Sorry to hear of the loss Dee. Mom told me before I came on here and so that's how I heard about it but, anyway I am very sorry and I will definetly pray for you guys because whenever the next baby momtchilov comes into the family (hehe) then Sonia won't be able to bring her/him into the world.

Sonia was a woman of joy. She had the warmest smile. The deepest love. She had such a positive, hopeful outlook on life. She made you feel cared for the moment you were in her presence. She made you feel as if all was possible. I only knew Sonia within childbirth settings. She was a wonderful doula. She went above and beyond... I always wondered how she could give so much to others and still have enough for herself and her family. Yet every person I knew who knew Sonia more always, without being asked, recognized what an amazing mom she was and how loving her relationship was with her husband. She had energy like a bubbles that overflow from a champaign bottle.
Andy and I spent a few nights with Sonia in Halifax at a midwifery conference in July 2004. I always wanted to know her more.
This is so sad to hear of her passing.
Oh Dee, I am so sorry. There are no words for that feeling of grief that sweeps over you when you receive news of such a tragedy. I did not know Sonia, but with what you said about her and Beckie's tribute to her, she sounds like she was a very special and loved woman. Dee, I will pray for Sonia's family and for you as you walk through this very difficut time. I hope you can feel the biggest hug ever from me across the miles. My love and prayers are with you. Joy
